Over a thousand candidates participated in this year’s admission process for the University of Warsaw’s doctoral schools. 335 candidates are on the admission lists, and they will begin their studies at one of the four University of Warsaw doctoral schools on 1st October.
The University of Warsaw has four doctoral schools – Doctoral School of Humanities, Doctoral School of the Exact and Natural Sciences, Doctoral School of Social Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. Nearly 1,700 doctoral candidates are currently studying in them. Young scientists can prepare their research in 26 disciplines.
During this year’s recruitment process, over a thousand people applied for a place in the doctoral school (11% more than last year).
The most popular disciplines were: cultural and religious studies (6 applicants per place), international relations (5.2 applicants per place), and interdisciplinary education at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School (5.1 applicants per place). The largest number of candidates applied for the following disciplines: legal sciences (82), physical sciences (62), and literary studies (59).
For new doctoral candidates
Doctoral candidates beginning their studies can participate in the “Good Start” induction program. From 1st to 3rd October, a series of meetings and training sessions. From 24th to 26th October the “PhD Camp 2025” training and integration trip, will take place in Chęciny. The program is financed by the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme.
“I believe that participation in the “Good Start” program will facilitate doctoral candidates’ transition into the academic community and help them fully utilise the opportunities offered by belonging to the University of Warsaw community. Thanks to the openness and commitment of university units, the programme will include many interesting meetings and training sessions,” says Prof. Adam Niewiadomski, Vice-Rector for Doctoral and Legal Affairs at the University of Warsaw.
Registration for the training sessions and trip will open on 15th September.
