A meeting was held at the University of Warsaw with representatives of the Universidad Gastón Dachary (UGD) – a university in Argentina. Discussions focused on opportunities for developing academic, research and institutional cooperation between the UW and UGD.

Universidad Gastón Dachary is an Argentine university based in Posadas, in the province of Misiones. The delegation’s visit to the UW took place on 24th and 25th September.

During the discussions, the possibilities for developing academic, research and institutional cooperation between the universities were discussed, and experiences were exchanged in the areas of innovation, technology transfer and collaboration between academia and business.

The meetings were attended by representatives of the University of Warsaw’s management, the UW’s Business Centre, the UW’s Centre for Technology and Knowledge Transfer, the UW’s Faculty of Management, the UW’s Faculty of Modern Languages, and the UW’s International Relations Office.

UGD was represented by: Roberto Suenaga, Vice-Chancellor of UGD; Benigno Romero, Executive Secretary of the academic network Red de Cooperación Interuniversitaria para el Desarrollo e Integración Regional (CIDIR, English: Inter-University Network for Development and Regional Integration) and a delegate of the Rector of UGD, as well as representatives of the academic staff and a group of students from the Argentine university.

The programme of meetings included a presentation on the activities of both universities and discussions on management, international business, technology transfer, innovation and collaboration between academia and business.

A key part of the visit was the discussion on opportunities for further cooperation between the UW and the UGD. Potential areas of cooperation included student and academic staff exchanges, joint seminars, summer schools and teaching projects, research collaboration, and initiatives related to innovation and technology transfer. The possibilities of using the Erasmus+ programme to support academic mobility and the development of cooperation between universities were also presented.

Discussions also centred on opportunities for developing economic and academic partnerships between Poland and Argentina and, more broadly, between Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America.

The visit was organised by the UW’s Business Centre.
