Enrolment has begun for the Doctoral School of Social Sciences, the Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School. There are 325 places waiting for applicants in 26 scientific disciplines. Registration takes place electronically via the Internet Candidate Recruitment website.

The University of Warsaw has four doctoral schools (Social Sciences, Humanities, Exact and Natural Sciences and Interdisciplinary Doctoral School). Nearly 1,700 doctoral candidates are currently enrolled in them. Young scientists can pursue their research in 26 scientific disciplines.

 

Admissions to UW doctoral schools are conducted electronically via the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) website. Enrolment is open until 29th May.

After enrolment closes in IRK, verification and evaluation of candidates’ documents (research project proposal and scientific achievements) will take place. The next stage is examinations (in the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences) and interviews (in all doctoral schools). Admission results will be announced in July.

Implementation PhD programme

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s “Implementation PhD” programme will be recruiting from 22nd April to 6th May. It is intended for people who would like to carry out their doctoral project in cooperation with an employer – a company or other business entity. The result of such cooperation will be implementation of the solutions that are the subject of the doctoral thesis in a doctoral candidate’s workplace. Detailed information is available on the doctoral schools’ websites and on IRK.

 

Scholarship to Start

A Scholarship to Start has been prepared for candidates with the best enrolment results, financed entirely from the funds of the University of Warsaw. The scholarship is awarded to 20% of those with the best results within each discipline.

 

Doctoral scholarships

Doctoral candidates receive a doctoral scholarship for a period of 48 months. The scholarship currently amounts to PLN 4242 gross (before mid-term evaluation) and PLN 5340.90 gross per month (after mid-term evaluation). Doctoral candidates with a disability certificate receive a doctoral scholarship increased by PLN 1040.70 gross per month.
