On 22nd June, during the 30th General Assembly of the Academic Sports Association, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak was re-elected as president for a second term. The Rector of the University of Warsaw has been holding this position since 2017.

Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, has been re-elected as the President of the Management Board of the Academic Sports Association (PL: Akademicki Związek Sportowy; AZS). He has been serving in this role pro bono.

 

135 of 141 assembly participants voted for the candidature of Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak.

 

“I am pleased with such a result as it not only gives me energy and strength but also summarises the passing four years. This time was not easy for any organisation in Poland, including the AZS. However, we managed to achieve a lot in sport, medals that we won, an increased number of the AZS members, support for the disabled, as well as excellent cooperation with other universities,” Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak said.

  • Tomasz Wróbel – Vice-President for Common Sports.

The Academic Sports Association has been the biggest sports organisation in Poland for over one hundred years. The AZS was founded in Cracow in 1909, and now it has nearly 42,000 members. It is a member of the International University Sports Federation (FR: Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire; FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA).
