On 10th December the University of Warsaw has opened the Digital Humanities Lab.
The DHLab will be a place which connects scientists from different fields of study. It is a jointed initiative of humanities units as well as the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modeling. Scholars will be carrying out research using new technologies and digital tools.
– I am certain that the laboratory will be a significant support for researchers of humanities of the University of Warsaw, who use digital tools or would like to do it – says Prof. Dorota Urbanek from the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, the leader of Coordination Team of the DHLab.
What is more, the DHLab will be taking part in seminars, lectures and workshops which promote knowledge and research possibilities of digital humanities.
Prof. Gerhard Lauer from Gotingen Centre for Digital Humanities has delivered an opening lecture „Sorry, I have digitized my scholarship. Humanities in the digital age”.
University’s DHLab would like to be a major scientific centre for digital humanities in Poland cooperating with Polish and foreign entities of digital humanities.
The opening of the Digital Humanities Lab took place on 10th December at 13.00 in 1130 room in the building of the Centre of New Technologies (Banacha Street 2C).
