“Our Mythical Hope in Children’s and Young Adults’ Culture… The (In)efficacy of Ancient Myths in Overcoming the Hardships of Life” is the title of the international conference which will be held from 18th to 21st May at the UW.
During the conference scholars from Poland and abroad will focus on role of ancient myths as sources of Hope during vital, often very difficult experiences that young people face on their way into adulthood. Researchers will present their first research results in this field.
The conference is organised within the framework of the ERC Consolidator Grant given to Prof. Katarzyna Marciniak from the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the UW for the research project – “Our Mythical Childhood… The Reception of Classical Antiquity in Children’s and Young Adults’ Culture in Response to Regional and Global Challenges”.
Professor Marciniak, who leads the project, works together with scholars from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. The project also involves collaboration with specialists in Reception Studies from various countries, including the US.
