The results of the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) are out. This year, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy featured the best 1000 universities in the world. The University of Warsaw was ranked between 301-400.
The Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) is considered as one of the most prestigious university rankings in the world. It has been published since 2003. In the latest edition of the ranking, the University of Warsaw was listed between 301 and 400. It is the highest position among Polish universities.
Universities were ranked by several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in “Nature” and “Science”, papers indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution.
In total, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy evaluated more than 2000 universities, however, half of them were listed.
Besides the University of Warsaw, the top 1000 universities also included other Polish universities: Jagiellonian University (401-500), AGH University of Science and Technology (701-800), Adam Mickiewicz University (801-900), Gdansk University of Technology (801-900), Warsaw University of Technology (801-900), Medical University of Silesia (901-1000), and Medical University of Warsaw (901-1000).
