The second “Green Day” was organised at the UW on 13th June. Those who visited the building on Dobra 55 could take part in lectures about the environment, plant cooking workshops, a flea market or quizzes with prizes. During the event, it was also possible to donate used electrical equipment.

“Green Day at UW” is one of numerous initiatives organised at the UW to promote environmental solutions and climate protection. Its first edition took place on 20th October 2023.

Participants could learn about various aspects of pro-climate and pro-environmental measures, as well as research in this area, during eleven lectures on the topics such as water resources, plant food or bicycle routes in Warsaw. Prizes for the environmental knowledge quiz included cycling gadgets: a frame pouch, a neck comforter printed with a cycling map showing routes between UW campuses designed for single-tracks, or a high-visibility bum bag. At the flea market, there were both new and second-hand ornaments, books or clothes to choose from. Funds from the sale of items will support the environmental society called “Towarzystwo Krajoznawcze Krajobraz”.

“I see environmental and climate initiatives as a joint social action. We come together to inspire each other. Every new initiative makes us want to work more,” Prof. Ewa Krogulec, the UW Vice-Rector for Development, said at the opening of the “Green Day at UW”.

The event is an initiative of the “Smart Green University” programme (in Polish).
