On 17th November, the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw hosted the final of the 28th ICPC Polish Collegiate Programming Contest. Sixty-three teams representing 21 universities in Poland took part in the competition. Four gold, four silver and four bronze medals were awarded.
The 2024 ICPC Polish Collegiate Programming Contest lasted from 15th to 17th November. The competition was held in the auditorium of the UW’s Faculty of Management. The championships were organised for the twenty-eighth time and were attended by 63 teams representing 21 universities in Poland training computer scientists. In addition, seven student teams and one sponsored team took part in the competition.
Twelve medals
The 2024 ICPC Polish Collegiate Programming Contest winner was the team from the University of Wrocław, which was the only one to solve 11 of the 12 tasks prepared by the organisers. Second place went to the team from Jagiellonian University with 10 tasks. The same number of tasks was solved by Mateusz Radecki from the UW’s Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, who was the only one to compete as a one-person team. The final gold medal was won by this year’s ICPC Europe Champions, students from the UW’s Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics: Arkadiusz Czarkowski, Bartłomiej Czarkowski and Tomasz Nowak. They were the best team to solve 9 tasks.
The silver medal was won in order by the following teams: the University of Warsaw (composed of Piotr Blinowski, Jakub Dziura and Dominik Wawszczak), the Jagiellonian University, the University of Wrocław and the University of Warsaw (composed of Jan Gwiazda, Kajetan Ramsza and Michał Szeliga).
In the places from ninth to twelfth – winning bronze medals – were teams representing: University of Warsaw (one team composed of Ivan Gechu, Adam Sołtan, Franciszek Witt, and the other composed of Jakub Koliński, Waldemar Lamandini, Olaf Targowski), and two teams from the University of Wrocław.
The 2024 ICPC Central Europe Regional Contest will be held in Wrocław on 15th December. The University of Warsaw will be represented by its silver and bronze medallists, and the team that won the first non-medal – 13th – place in Warsaw.
