On 17th June, the authorities of the University of Warsaw met with the Rector of Masaryk University in Brno. The discussion was focused on strengthening the collaboration between the universities, with particular emphasis on academic mobility.

On June 17th, a meeting was held in the Senate Hall of the University of Warsaw between the University authorities and the Rector of Masaryk University in Brno, Prof. Martin Bareš. The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Poland, Břetislav Dančák, and the Embassy Counsellor, Petr Maryška. The University of Warsaw was represented by the Rector Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, and the Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources Prof. Sambor Grucza.

 

During the meeting, both parties expressed their concern with strengthening and broadening the existing collaboration in biology and chemistry.

 

“As the University of Warsaw, we are interested in improving the exchange of scientists between our institutions. The presence of good lecturers at foreign universities and the impact of the knowledge they impart on the generations of students strengthens the image of the country,” emphasised Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector.

 

In addition, the issue of restarting medical studies at the University of Warsaw and the possibility of utilising the experience of Masaryk University to further develop the Faculty of Medicine was also discussed.

 

“I would like to thank you very much for this meeting. We are eager to expand our existing collaboration to fields such as cybersecurity, pharmacy, and social sciences,” Prof. Martin Bareš, the Rector of Masaryk University in Brno, said.
