Prof. Sambor Grucza, the UW Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, and representatives of the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Asian and African Cultures met with a delegation from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. The discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation, including the possibility of establishing an HSK examination centre at the University of Warsaw.
CLEC promotes Chinese language learning worldwide and fosters international cooperation in education. Its activities include inviting young sinologists to China, organising the World Conference on Sinology, and running a study programme for translators and interpreters. The Center also administers the HSK examinations, which assess proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
The meeting took place on 16th October in the Golden Hall of Kazimierzowski Palace. The University of Warsaw was represented by Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, and members of the Faculty of Asian and African Cultures: Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzyńska, Dean of the Faculty; Dr Małgorzata Religa; and Dr Albert Kozik from the Department of Sinology.
“Meetings of this kind are valuable to both sides. Our guests have the opportunity to learn more about a university that has been researching the languages, histories and cultures of the regions they represent for decades. We build relationships that can lead to student exchanges, joint research projects and the further development of language education. Understanding other cultures is also one of the University’s longstanding missions,” said Prof. Sambor Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources.
Both sides expressed their willingness to continue discussions on inter-institutional cooperation and explore opportunities for joint projects.
