On 10th December, the University of Warsaw and Gangneung-Wonju National University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Both parties will develop mutual relations in fields such as education, research, and culture.
Gangneung-Wonju National University (GWNU) is a public university in South Korea, established in 1946. The institution’s educational offer includes courses in the humanities, social, exact, natural and technical sciences, arts or medical sciences, among others.
“We are delighted that the University of Warsaw is establishing cooperation with another university from South Korea. Thanks to the agreement, members of our communities will be able to carry out joint educational and research projects and benefit from a variety of cultural resources and experiences,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, during the signing ceremony of the MoU.
The University of Warsaw has been cooperating with South Korean universities for many years, including Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Korea University, Kyung Hee University, Kyungpook National University, Soongsil University, University of Seoul, Ajou University, Chonnam University and Chung-Ang University. Besides the cooperation at the university-wide level, faculty collaboration is also developing well. As part of bilateral agreements, there were 13 incoming students to the UW and 17 UW outgoing students in the 2023/2024 academic year. In addition, 23 Korean students are studying at the UW, among others, in international relations, management, law or administration.
The MoU between the University of Warsaw and Gangneung-Wonju National University was signed by Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, and Dr Park Deokyoung, the GWNU President on 10th December in the Golden Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace. The agreement relates to multual exchanges in education, academic research, culture, and other fields.
