The Digital Humanities Lab of the UW organizes a conference entitled “Digital Humanities Centres: Experiences and Perspectives”. The event will be held on 8th-9th December at the University of Warsaw Library.

 

The system of science and its societal environment have an influence on Digital Humanities (DH). The DH centres, which are being launched all over the world, face a number of challenges in order to function effectively and fulfill the potential of DH.

 

During the conference it will be an opportunity to share experiences and reflect on the perspectives of DH institutions. Participants will be talking about, among others, the institutional and organizational structure of centres, the state financial policy towards centres, the DH cooperation with business, industry, institutions of culture as well as those issues related to e-infrastructure, projects and educational activity of DH centres.

 

Among keynote speakers are: Prof. Frédéric Kaplan, Chair of the Digital Humanities, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Prof. Jan Christoph Meister, Executive Comittee of the EADH, University of Hamburg, Prof. Karlheinz Mörth, Austrian Center for Digital Humanities, Austrian Academy of Science and Prof. Susan Schreibman, Head of An Foras Feasa, Maynooth University.
