On April 19th, 1943, the Jewish population confined to the Warsaw Ghetto undertook a heroic fight against the German occupying forces. The uprising that began on that day went down in history as the largest and most dramatic armed uprising of the Jewish population during the Second World War.

The fighting resistance and the civilian population supporting them had no illusions about the outcome of this unequal fight, but were determined to fight for life, dignity and the right to decide about their fate and that of their loved ones.

Among them were also members of our academic community.

On the 80th Anniversary of this event, let us pay homage to the heroic stance of the Jewish population of the Warsaw Ghetto, by pinning a symbolic daffodil to our clothes.
