65 outstanding life scientists will join EMBO – a group of the best researchers that promote excellence in the life sciences. Prof. Magda Konarska from the UW is one of them.

The total number includes 56 EMBO members residing in 19 member states of the European Molecular Biology Conference (from Poland: prof. Konarska and prof. Marta Miączyńska from International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw) and 9 EMBO associate members currently working in the USA and Japan.

– Election to the EMBO membership is recognition of research excellence, and I am pleased to welcome so many great scientists to our organization – says EMBO Director Maria Leptin.

EMBO members are actively involved in the execution of the organisation’s initiatives by evaluating applications for EMBO funding and by serving on EMBO Council and Committees.

Professor Magda Konarska from the Centre of New Technology of the University of Warsaw was elected to EMBO membership. The scientist leads the Laboratory of RNA Biology. Prof. Konarska will form, together with Prof. Agnieszka Chacińska from the CeNT, a new international research unit, within the CeNT, called ReMedy. Its research teams will focus on the adaptive cellular mechanisms triggered by stress. Read more about ReMedy.

New EMBO members and associate members will be formally welcomed at the EMBO members’ meeting in Heidelberg between 18th and 20th October 2017.

More information is available on the EMBO website.

EMBO is an organization of more than 1700 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences. The major goals of the organization are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a European research environment where scientists can achieve their best work. EMBO helps young scientists to advance their research, promote their international reputations and ensure their mobility. Courses, workshops, conferences and scientific journals disseminate the latest research and offer training in techniques to maintain high standards of excellence in research practice. EMBO helps to shape science and research policy by seeking input and feedback from our community and by following closely the trends in science in Europe.
