Three scientists from the University of Warsaw have been selected in the third edition of the Visiting Professorships programme, organised by the 4EU+ Alliance. The researchers will pursue their research projects at Charles University in Prague, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Milan. Three scientists from partner universities will come to the University of Warsaw.

The third edition of the 4EU+ Visiting Professorships competition is part of the Alliance’s mission to build One Comprehensive Research-Intensive European University.

 

This year’s call attracted 51 applications, resulting in 18 selected projects. Visiting professors will spend an average of 47 days at 4EU+ Alliance partner universities pursuing their research projects. Most of them will begin their mobilities in the first half of 2026.

 

This year’s list include three scientists from the University of Warsaw: Dr. Ewelina Bator from the Faculty of Modern Languages, Prof. Julia Pawłowska from the Faculty of Biology, and Prof. Krzysztof Szczygielski from the Faculty of Economic Sciences.

 

The selected researchers from the University of Warsaw will pursue the following projects:
  • Dr. Ewelina Bator (Faculty of Modern Languages) will go to Charles University in Prague, where she will pursue a project on the reception of Finnish literature in Central Europe after 1989, combining research with teaching. The project includes a new course on contemporary Finnish literature in Prague, with a particular focus on minority representation and intercultural perspectives, while fostering long-term collaboration in literary and translation studies;
  • Prof. Julia Pawłowska (Faculty of Biology) will go to the University of Copenhagen, where she will pursue a project aimed at strengthening cooperation in mycology and fungal ecology education, developing advanced modules in molecular mycology, and preparing common curricula for future joint master’s programs in biodiversity and evolution;
  • Prof. Krzysztof Szczygielski (Faculty of Economic Sciences) will go to the University of Milan, where he will pursue a project investigation the European Union’s pursuit of technological sovereignty. The researcher will analyse how independence in critical technologies may affect innovation.

 

Three scientists will come to the University of Warsaw: Prof. Ginevra Greco from the University of Milan, Prof. Anna Marciniak-Czochra and Prof. Diamantis Panagiotopoulos from the University of Heidelberg.
