The latest subject-specific university rankings published by Times Higher Education have been released. The University of Warsaw was included in nine of the eleven areas assessed. It proved to be the best among Polish universities in six subjects.

In the World University Rankings by Subject 2026 published by Times Higher Education, the University of Warsaw was ranked in nine fields. Arts and humanities received the highest scores. Compared to last year, law, physical sciences and psychology moved up in the rankings.

The University of Warsaw in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026:
  • arts and humanities: 151–175 (1st place in Poland)
  • law: 176–200
  • psychology: 251–300 (1st place in Poland, tied with the University of Wrocław)
  • computer science: 301–400 (1st place in Poland)
  • physical sciences: 401–500 (1st place in Poland)
  • education studies: 401–500
  • life sciences: 501–600 (1st place in Poland, tied with Jagiellonian University)
  • social sciences: 501–600 (1st place in Poland, tied with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Jagiellonian University)
  • business and economics: 601–800

The THE World University Rankings by Subject (WUR) are compiled by the British magazine “Times Higher Education”. They assess the level of universities in 11 areas: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Medical & Health, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences.

 

Higher education institutions are assessed on the basis of criteria such as Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.

 

This year, 1,067 universities from 91 countries and territories around the world were assessed.
