On 2nd June, the University-wide survey “Situation of doctoral candidates studying at UW Doctoral Schools – 2025” was launched. The survey will be available until 14 July.

On the initiative of Prof. Adam Niewiadomski, the UW Vice-Rector for Doctoral and Legal Affairs, the survey was prepared by the Teaching and Learning Quality Evaluation Lab. Its aim is to gather opinions and experiences of doctoral candidates on various aspects of their education and functioning at the UW.

From the perspective of my work, this is an extremely important survey. I am glad that we were able to organise it in such a short period of time – above all thanks to the commitment of the Teaching and Learning Quality Evaluation Lab under the direction of Prof. Mikołaj Jasiński. I strongly encourage all doctoral candidates to take part in the survey – your vote will help us to better adapt the activities and offer of the university to the needs and expectations of the doctoral community.

Adam Niewiadomski, the UW Vice-Rector of the University for Doctoral and Legal Affairs

The topics covered in the survey include:

  • the curriculum and organisation of doctoral school education;
  • scientific activity;
  • cooperation with promoters;
  • material and living situation;
  • available forms of support offered by the UW.

In addition, the questionnaire includes a separate set of questions aimed at persons from abroad concerning, for example, legalisation of residence, knowledge of the Polish language or cultural differences. The survey questionnaire was approved by the University Council for Teaching and Learning after a series of numerous internal consultations.

The current survey is a continuation of the 2022 research project. At that time, the feedback submitted by doctoral cndidates contributed to the reform of the doctoral school curriculum, among others.

The survey will be available to doctoral candidates until 14th July. The results will be published in autumn 2025.
