171 researchers from the University of Warsaw were honoured with the Rector’s Awards. The award ceremony took place on 5th March at the Casimir Palace.

“Congratulations to all the honoured researchers. Your achievements are a source of pride for the entire University of Warsaw community. It is thanks to your work, passion and consistency that our university is developing and strengthening its position,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, during the ceremony.

The Rector’s Awards are given for outstanding scientific activity, including scientific research and development work, which contributes in a special way to the development and prestige of the University.

Candidates for the awards are nominated through a competition by the deans of the faculties and heads of the University’s organisational units. The lists of candidates are then analysed by a university-wide committee.

Most of the people who received the award this year work in the following faculties: Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics – 12, as well as Chemistry, Physics, Polish Studies, and Law and Administration – 11 each.
