In connection with the beginning of the application process for dormitory places for the 2025/2026 academic year, we present the most important information regarding the current situation in student housing.
Dormitory application process
In 2025, there will be two rounds of applications for student housing:
- Round I (June 9 – July 4, 2025) – for current UW students (including those completing their undergraduate studies and planning to continue at UW),
- Round II (August 4–15, 2025) – only for students admitted to studies for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Applications can only be submitted during the specified periods – after the deadlines, submission will no longer be possible.
The process will follow the same model as the Rector’s Scholarship: after the application round closes, all applications will be reviewed at the same time.
Detailed rules for applying and the allocation of places are available on the Student Welfare and Support Office website:
Availability of places
The University of Warsaw offers a total of 2,710 places across seven dormitories. Throughout the academic year, there are usually vacancies available in student housing during most months.

The biggest challenge remains the beginning of October – a time when many students, despite having been allocated a place, ultimately decide not to move in. Last year, this applied to around 300 individuals. This situation delays the reallocation of places but also shows that flexible responses are possible.
Anyone in need of accommodation during the academic year can easily contact the Student Welfare and Support Office – simply send an email to bpm@uw.edu.pl or visit the office in person. Our goal is to provide support quickly, efficiently, and with minimal formalities.
Situation in dormitory 3
The renovation of the building at Kickiego 9, part of Dormitory No. 3, has been planned for some time. Initially scheduled to begin in summer 2024, the University of Warsaw authorities decided to postpone it by a year to ensure the comfort and safety of residents.
During direct meetings between the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and dormitory residents, it was repeatedly emphasized that the quality of accommodation is just as important as the number of available places. We want members of our community to live in conditions that meet modern standards. That’s why we are investing in infrastructure modernization while maintaining continuous support.
To ensure the renovation does not reduce the number of available places, the University is finalizing agreements with public partners to maintain the current number of dormitory places – without compromising on standards or pricing. This means students will not experience negative effects from the temporary closure of the building, and once the work is completed, they will benefit from improved living conditions.
At the same time, we would like to clarify that 65 students were denied an extension of their stay in Dormitory No. 3 for the summer period. All of them did not meet the accommodation criteria – for example, they were no longer students, had no affiliation with UW, or were ineligible due to unpaid fees or violations of dormitory rules during the year. Meanwhile, 343 students were granted an extension of their stay in DS 3 for the summer.
Currently, the University of Warsaw has vacancies in other dormitories – anyone in need of summer accommodation is encouraged to contact the Student Welfare and Support Office (bpm@uw.edu.pl). We will do our best to find a suitable solution.
