108 doctoral candidates have been awarded IDUB scholarships for the preparation of doctoral dissertations in line with the Priority Research Areas within the framework of the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” (IDUB) Programme.
On 15th April, an IDUB scholarship award ceremony was held in the Golden Hall of the Kazimierzowski Palace. In the 3rd edition of the competition, 108 laureates were selected. Each of them will receive a scholarship in the amount of PLN 12 000. Since the programme’s inception, 357 doctoral candidates at the University have been awarded, receiving a total of more than PLN 4 million.
“Excellence Initiative – Research University” is the first strategic programme of its kind in the history of the University of Warsaw and the Polish higher education and science sector. The number of doctoral candidates studying at the UW’s doctoral schools is a national record. IDUB scholarships for the preparation of doctoral dissertations in line with the Programme’s Priority Research Areas have already been awarded to more than 500 doctoral candidates,” Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, the UW Vice-Rector for Research, said during the ceremony.
The event was attended by representatives of the UW authorities, directors of doctoral schools, management of the IDUB Programme and vice-president of the UW PhD Students’ Union.
The evaluation of the submitted applications took into account the degree of connection between the dissertation topic and the Priority Research Areas (PRAs) and the scientific disciplines assigned to the PRAs, as well as the scientific output of UW doctoral candidates.
