On 1st October, the University of Warsaw will launch “The Anti-dropout Programme – Stay at UW!”. Thanks to funding from the European Social Development Fund 2021–2027, the university will develop a systematic approach to tackling dropout rates. This will involve comprehensive monitoring of the phenomenon and the implementation of preventive measures. The University of Warsaw has signed an agreement on this matter with the National Centre for Research and Development.
The University of Warsaw intends to develop a systematic approach to the challenge of dropout. This will be achieved through consistent and comprehensive monitoring of the phenomenon and taking action in response to the identified causes of dropping out of studies.
Analysis, communication and support
In order to assess the scale of the phenomenon and characterise it, the University will develop a model based on:
- analyses;
- predictive models;
- designing corrective measures;
- implementing a support programme for 250 academic teachers (heads of teaching units, members of teaching councils).
The project also plans to support and coordinate activities at the university in the area of existing structures responsible for providing information about the teaching offer, including:
- creating cooperation mechanisms;
- developing rules for disseminating the teaching offer;
- creating a modern IT tool for presenting the offer;
- organising training for 40 employees.
The university also intends to increase the level of student involvement in academic life and strengthen psychological support by:
- supporting 1,700 students in first-, second-, and full-cycle studies (with particular emphasis on students in the humanities);
- supporting 144 academic teachers (programme directors, year supervisors) in working with students in mental health crisis;
- strengthening the potential of the UW’s Psychological Support Centre.
