The University’s legal framework is determined by Poland’s Law on Higher Education and Science, which governs the operation of all Polish public and non-public universities. UW’s structure, division of authority, teaching matters and many other aspects are regulated internally by documents including The University of Warsaw Bylaws.

On 1st October 2018, the new Law on Higher Education and Science entered into force.
Internal acts
On 1st October 2019, the new Statute of the University of Warsaw (pdf) and Rules of Study at the University of Warsaw (pdf) entered into force.
