Elsevier publishing company has announced the winners of the Research Impact Leaders Award 2025. The distinction is granted to universities whose research makes the greatest contribution to the international perception of Polish science. The University of Warsaw won in the category of Natural Sciences.

Elsevier has announced the winners of the Research Impact Leaders Award for the ninth time. The initiative aims to support research and the development of science. The award is presented to outstanding institutions demonstrating high-quality research and strong internationalisation, as well as implementing strategic initiatives at both national and international levels.

 

The Elsevier Research Impact Leaders Awards are granted in six categories (according to the OECD classification): Life Sciences / Agricultural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities, Medical Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.

 

The University of Warsaw was honoured in the field of Natural Sciences. The remaining distinctions were awarded to: Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Humanities), SWPS University (Social Sciences), Gdańsk University of Technology (Engineering and Technology), Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW (Life Sciences / Agricultural Sciences) and the Jagiellonian University (Medical Sciences). A special award – the Academic Industry Synergy Award – was granted to the Warsaw University of Technology.

 

This year’s laureates were announced during the Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP), held at the AGH University of Krakow. The award on behalf of the University of Warsaw was accepted by Prof. Adam Niewiadomski, UW Vice-Rector for Doctoral Candidates and Legal Affairs.
