248 University of Warsaw students and doctoral candidates received Scholarship to Start diplomas, which are an initiative of the Rector’s Fund. “Passion is a feature that should characterise every researcher, athlete and Olympian. You are our pride,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, during the ceremony at the Kazimierzowski Palace.

On 1st July University of Warsaw organised at the Kazimierzowski Palace a gala awarding Start Scholarship diplomas to outstanding students and doctoral candidates of the University of Warsaw. 248 laureates received them from the Rector prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak.

 

“We want you to study at one of the best universities in Europe and the world. Passion is a feature that should characterize every researcher, athlete and Olympian. You are our pride,”said Rector.

 

This is the third edition of the Scholarship to Start programme, which supports newly admitted UW students and doctoral candidates who have distinguished themselves with scientific, sports and academic achievements at the beginning of their journey at the University of Warsaw. The initiative is financed from the Rector’s Fund.

 

Olympians and athletes will receive a scholarship of PLN 12,000, while doctoral candidates will receive PLN 18,000 (paid once).

 

The programme includes three types of scholarships:

  • “Scholarship to Start for Olympians” – intended for first-year students of first-cycle studies or uniform master’s studies, who are winners of subject contests or who obtained the maximum number of points in the recruitment procedure based on the title of winner of a subject contest;
  • “Starting Scholarship for Athletes” – intended for first-year students of first-cycle and second-cycle studies or uniform master’s studies and doctoral candidates in the first year of education at a doctoral school who are outstanding athletes;
  • “Starting Scholarship for Doctoral Students” – intended for doctoral candidates in the first year of education at a doctoral school who achieved the highest results in the recruitment procedure.
