Przemysław Dębiak, who studied at the UW Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, won the AtCoder World Tour Finals 2025 – one of the most challenging programming tournaments in the world.
The competition took place on 16th July in Tokyo. 11 participants had a task to optimise assigned code. Przemysław Dębiak defeated all competitors, including specialised software developed by OpenAI – the competition sponsor.
The winner studied computer science at the University of Warsaw. During his studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, he achieved numerous successes in programming competitions, including TopCoder Open 2008 (first place), Imagine Cup 2007 (first place), Imagine Cup 2006 (second place), and Google Code Jam 2006 (finalist).
