The University of Warsaw takes the top position among Polish scientific institutions that are beneficiaries of the EU Research and Innovation Programme Horizon Europe. UW researchers take part in eighty-eight projects with funding of €43.8mln for the UW. Up to now, the EU has allocated Polish researchers grants in the sum of €640mln.

Horizon Europe (HE) is the European Union’s key funding programme for research and innovation. Within 2021–2027, its budget amounts to approximately €95bln.

 

The National Contact Point of The National Centre for Research and Development (PL: Krajowy Punkt Kontaktowy Narodowego Centrum Badań i Rozwoju) releases current information about institutions that participate in HE projects. The latest data from the European Commission shows the University of Warsaw on the top position among Polish institutions regarding conducted projects and allocated funding.

The UW initiatives under Horizon Europe:
  • participating in eighty-eight projects with allocated grants,
  • coordinating twenty-three funded projects,
  • over €43.8mln of granted funds.

The majority of the granted funds (€27.4mln) is consumed for the projects under Pillar I: Excellent Science. Further €11.1mln was allocated under Pillar II: Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, €3.9mln granted for initiatives within Pillar III: Innovative Europe whereas €1.5mln for projects from the Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area.
