Visit of an American delegation to the UW

From 16th to 19th September, a delegation from the United States visited the UW. Representatives of Rutgers University met with the authorities of the UW and representatives of its units and faculties. The discussions focused on opportunities for developing research and teaching cooperation, in particular the exchange of good practices in science and business joint activities, applied research projects and postgraduate education.

The meeting with the American university was aimed at discussing opportunities for joint activities between the University of Warsaw and Rutgers University in New Brunswick in the field of exchanging good practices in science and business cooperation. In particular, the discussions focused on joint applied research and the commercialisation of its results, as well as postgraduate education.

During the visit, meetings were held with representatives of the university authorities, faculty authorities and university-wide organisational units.

 

Rutgers University was represented by Prof. Deborah Silver, Executive Director of the Professional Science Master’s (MBS) programme at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Prof. Dipanjan Nag, an expert on intellectual property and global technology transfer. The experts presented the strategic priorities and programmes implemented at the university in New Brunswick.

 

During the visit, the American delegation met with, among others, Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Sambor

Grucza, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, Prof. Maciej Raś, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching and Learning, Robert Grey, Chancellor of the University of Warsaw, as well as Jolanta Urbanik, Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Micro-credentials, representatives of the University of Warsaw Business Centre, the International Relations Office, the Office for University Advancement, Welcome Point, the UW’s Centre for Technology and Knowledge Transfer, the UW’s Incubator, the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Resocialisation, the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, the Faculty of Psychology, the Faculty of Polish Studies, the Centre for Europe, the UW’s Centre for Foreign Language Teacher Training and European Education, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Management, the UW’s Centre for New Technologies, and the UW’s Biological and Chemical Research Centre.

 

In addition to issues related to cooperation between science and business, the possibilities for the internationalisation of universities and academic exchange were also discussed.

 

The delegation from Rutgers University visited three campuses of the University of Warsaw: Krakowskie Przedmieście, Ochota and Służew. Meetings were held at the Faculty of Management, the UW’s Business Centre, the Faculty of Medicine and the UW’s Biological and Chemical Research Centre.

 

The visit was organised by the UW’s Business Centre, represented by Dr Oskar Szumski and Dr Waldemar Kozioł from the Faculty of Management, in cooperation with Dr Jan Kutner, Raphael Mahari and Gabriela Sempruch.
