UW Support Chat

Blue Monday — often referred to as the most depressing day of the year — falls at a time when many people struggle with fatigue, low mood, and a sense of being overwhelmed. In response to these challenges, the University of Warsaw is offering new online psychological support: the UW Support Chat. This safe, free, and anonymous form of psychological support is available to the entire academic community.

An information and education campaign entitled “Your mind – your strength” is currently underway at the University of Warsaw. Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and to promote well-being among students, doctoral candidates, and university staff. The campaign is implemented by the University of Warsaw Psychological Support Center.

For many years, the University of Warsaw Psychological Support Center has been developing a wide range of support options, allowing each person to choose the form of contact best suited to their needs — anonymously, safely, and free of charge. As of January, the Center’s offer has been expanded, at the initiative of the University of Warsaw Student Council to include a new form of contact: the UW Support Chat.

When things feel more difficult

January can be a particularly challenging time. Short days and limited sunlight, post-holiday fatigue, the pressure of New Year’s resolutions, or a more difficult financial situation after December expenses can all have a negative impact on well-being. It is no coincidence that the third Monday of January is referred to as Blue Monday — the most depressing day of the year.

If feelings of sadness, lack of energy, anxiety, or hopelessness persist, it is worth seeking support and talking to a specialist.

“You don’t have to go through difficult moments alone. Talking to someone can help. It’s worth using the University of Warsaw helpline — and if you don’t feel comfortable making a phone call, the UW Support Chat is now available. On the other side are experienced specialists, ready to listen and offer support,” emphasizes Prof. Julia Kubisa, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Warsaw and Chief Specialist for Research and Equality Education.

UW Support Chat

Since 8th January, the University of Warsaw has offered a trust chat for those in need of psychological support who prefer online contact. This is another element of the support program implemented by the University of Warsaw Psychological Support Center, ensuring that help is accessible in a safe and discreet way.

The chat can be used anonymously via the WhatsApp application at +48 880 762 439 and is available Monday to Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
