38 members of Polish archaeological expeditions in Egypt, including employees of the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology of UW, returned safely to Poland. UW researchers working in Chile and Ethiopia are on their way home too.

On the night of 17th/18th March, PCMA UW staff, scholarship holders and employees of other institutions: the Jagiellonian University, left the capital of Egypt. It was possible thanks to the University of Warsaw collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland. Dr. Artur Obłuski, Director of the Research Centre in Cairo, coordinated the action. UW researchers working in Ethiopia are heading home too.

In response to restrictions imposed by countries amid the spread of the coronavirus, the University of Warsaw Las Campanas Observatory in Chile, was closed. Soon, one of our employees carrying out research there will come back to Poland.

All people returning to Poland are quarantined.
