The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has updated the Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructure. It showcases the country’s most important unique equipment, laboratories and research systems. Among the 165 infrastructure facilities included, 11 were submitted by the University of Warsaw.

The Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructure showcases equipment, systems and laboratories with the highest potential for scientific excellence, consolidating research capacity in fields vital to the development of science and the country. As part of the 2024–2026 update, 61 of the 70 facilities listed on the Roadmap in 2020 remain, whilst 104 new ones have been added.

As part of the call for proposals, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education received 192 applications. The assessment took into account criteria such as: the uniqueness of the infrastructure at national and international level; the alignment of the infrastructure’s objectives and aims with national and international policies on scientific research, development and innovation; the applicant’s institutional and human resources capacity, the level of interest in the infrastructure from the national and international scientific community and the business sector, the justification of the costs associated with the infrastructure, the feasibility of establishing the infrastructure in the short and medium term, and the prospect of establishing the infrastructure through international cooperation.
