“It was a very good event. We had the honour of co-creating high-quality thematic panels and organising valuable debates and meetings. We discussed topics such as artificial intelligence, security and the possibilities of implementing scientific solutions in the economy,” says Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw. The three-day 34th Economic Forum in Karpacz ended on 4th September. The University of Warsaw was the main academic partner of the event.

The Economic Forum in Karpacz is an annual international meeting of representatives of science, business and politics from Central and Eastern Europe. The University of Warsaw was the main partner of the 34th edition of the event.

During the three days of deliberations (2nd–4th September), authorities and scientists from the University of Warsaw participated in numerous panels on the most important challenges of today, including cybersecurity, economic resilience, health care, international order and science policy.

“As a representative of the academic community and rector of the largest university in the country, the University of Warsaw, I would like to emphasise that our task is not only to react and respond to emerging changes, but also – and perhaps above all – to shape the future; to create space for stable, consistent and secure development,” says Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw, adding: “Contributing to events such as the Economic Forum in Karpacz, as well as organising similar initiatives at the University of Warsaw, are an expression of our university’s openness to cooperation and the exchange of ideas and views with the surrounding community, including the business community. We want to work together for the common good, so that we can live in a safe, healthy, prosperous and forward-looking society that cares about creating conditions for a good life not only for ourselves, but also for those who will come after us.”

“As the main partner of the event, the University of Warsaw emphasises the importance of the world of science in shaping the vision of the future. It is at the intersection of academia, business and politics that ideas are born which support innovation and the development of a modern economy,” adds Robert Grey, Chancellor of the University of Warsaw.

The University of Warsaw hosted its own meeting zone, where debates were held on topics such as:
  • economic equality;
  • the luxury goods sector;
  • the labour market;
  • health and well-being;
  • the media of the future;
  • Europe’s chances in the global race for technological leadership;
  • ways to retain talent;
  • women on boards;
  • building resilient economies in the digital age;
  • Poland’s strategy in the race for AI.
