On 19th-23rd July, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling of UW organises an online international conference on trends and innovations in high-performance computing and computational science Supercomputing Frontiers Europe 2021. It is the 7th edition of the annual meeting.
Over 40 speakers from Europe, the United States and Asia will attend this three-day conference. This year’s keynote speakers are Anders Jensen, Irene Qualters, Roberto Car and Hiroaki Kitano, who will report on the most important developments in supercomputing and computational science.
The topics for SCFE21 concern, e.g.:
- Special architectures,
- Storage class memory,
- Hybrid cloud/HPC,
- Smart systems,
- Hybrid quantum computing and HPC,
- Omics and Systems Biology,
- Convergence of HPC,
- AI and Big Data,
- Semantic and Graph methods.
Participants will learn about large-scale computing initiatives in India and Africa. The conference programme also includes the networking zone and free workshops with companies: Lenovo, Huawei, Systems Biology Institute Tokyo (text mining – Taxila), Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (QCG middleware) and ICM (data visualization – VisNow).
This year’s edition of the Supercomputing Frontiers Europe conference will take place online. All high-performance computing enthusiasts from around the world can join it. It brings together scientists, supercomputer centre managers, and representatives of leading IT vendors and start-ups. The event is organised by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling of the University of Warsaw.

In order to accommodate participants from multiple time-zones, the sessions will run between:
- 7:00 am-11:30 pm (San Francisco, LA),
- 2:00 pm-8:30 pm (Warsaw, Lagos),
- 6:30 pm-1:00 am (New Delhi),
- 9:00 pm-3:30 am (Tokyo).
The last year’s conference – SCFE 2020 – was attended by over 1000 registrations from over 67 countries. ICM UW is the organiser of the European edition of Supercomputing Frontiers since 2018. In the years 2015-2017, the event took place in Singapore, from where it was transferred to Warsaw.
In May, ICM also organised the Virtual ICM Seminars in Computer and Computational Science to provide a platform for HPC and the computing science community.
