This year the Open Day of the University of Warsaw will take place on 22nd April. Everyone interested in the educational offer of the UW will have an opportunity to meet and talk to representatives of each faculty, student organisation or administrative office on the University’s main campus at Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.

Each year the University of Warsaw organises the Open Day for the students-to-be. Candidates are presented the UW study programmes and admission procedures at special information stands prepared by faculties and departments, student organisations and administration.

The event will be held on 22nd April between 10 am and 4 pm on the UW campus, 26/28 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.

The candidates will have an opportunity to visit almost 70 stands of the University units, including the newly established Faculty of Medicine. The programme includes also meetings with high school students, sports and artistic events (organised by the Academic Sports Association, Academic Choir, “Warszawianka” Song and Dance Ensemble, Hybrydy Theatre and the UW Career Office).

Admission procedures

Candidates interested in undertaking the first-cycle and long-cycle studies at the University of Warsaw in the 2023/2024 academic year are presented the educational offer, admission rules and application deadlines in the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) system.

This year, medical teaching will return to the University of Warsaw after a 70-year hiatus. On 10th January Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, submitted an application for establishing and commencing long-cycle academic programme in medicine at the University of Warsaw in 2023/2024 academic year to the Ministry of Education and Science.

The programme of the studies was approved by the Senate of the University of Warsaw on 18th November 2022. The Minister of Health handed over a symbolic cheque to the University in the amount of PLN40 million in revenue bonds for activities related to the establishment of a medical degree programme.

The Senate also defined the detailed admission requirements and procedures for the medical studies, including the rules for the admission of laureates and finalists of relevant school Olympiads, and the proposed admission limit (the latter to be approved by a decree of the Minister of Health). It is planned that 60 students will be admitted to the first year of the medical studies.
