The University of Warsaw will celebrate its 210th anniversary this year. To mark this milestone, the university has organised numerous events highlighting the academic community’s most significant achievements and successes. The first of these is an exhibition at the Kazimierzowski Palace entitled “The University of Warsaw: 210 Years of Development”. The opening took place on 1st October.
“This is a great day for the University – on the one hand, it marks the inauguration, and on the other, we are launching the celebrations of the 210th anniversary of the University of Warsaw’s existence and operation. Many outstanding figures have studied and worked here, and many have achieved great things. We must remember this; we must highlight these people and their history, but we are also thinking about the future. Both today and tomorrow are extremely important to us. I very much hope that we will be able to combine these two aspects,” said Prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the UW Rector, during the opening of the exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition entitled “The University of Warsaw: 210 Years of Development” took place on 1st October on the ground floor of the Kazimierzowski Palace (Main Campus).
The exhibition presents the university from the perspectives of the past, the present and the future. It highlights its heritage, including Nobel laureates associated with the UW, and showcases its most important current programmes and projects. It also demonstrates how the UW is committed to the development of technology, society and environmental protection.
The common theme of the exhibition is the University’s role beyond research and education – its involvement in the changes taking place around us and its response to contemporary challenges. As one of the exhibition’s slogans states: “The University explores the world, but also takes responsibility for it.”
The exhibition “University of Warsaw: 210 Years of Development” was organised by a team from the University of Warsaw’s Centre for Cooperation and Dialogue, led by the University’s Vice-Rector for Development, Prof. Ewa Krogulec.
