On 15th March the UW scholars who conduct the project “Our Mythical Childhood…”, granted by the European Research Council, are organising a meeting on the occasion of the “ERC Week”.

In 2016, the project “Our Mythical Childhood… The Reception of Classical Antiquity in Children’s and Young Adults’ Culture in Response to Regional and Global Challenges” was awarded the ERC Consolidator Grant. The Project aims at developing a pioneering approach to the reception of Classical Antiquity understood as an important cultural experience that contributes to the formation of the young people’s identities along with their initiation into adulthood. It is led by the Professor Katarzyna Marciniak from the Faculty of “Artes Liberales”. In her team, there are scholars from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. The project also involves collaboration with specialists in Reception Studies from various countries, including the US.

Scholars who conduct “Our Mythical Childhood…” project will participate in the “ERC Week” and meet at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw. In the first part of the meeting, the team members of the project will present the ERC and the main tasks planned within the grant and discuss the very first results of the project – the chosen examples of the reception of Classical Antiquity in children’s and young adults’ culture. The second part of the meeting will be dedicated to an interactive game session. The participants in the event will have an opportunity to play Scrabble in Latin and many more famous or niche games, inspired by Classical Antiquity, in Polish language version.

The meeting will be held on 15th March from 10.00 to 13. 30 at the conference room at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” (Dobra 72, White Villa).
