From 29th to 31st May, the International Congress of Spanish History was organised at the University of Warsaw. The event was attended by researchers from 14 countries. 

An international, interdisciplinary team of authors, including Prof. Robert Wiśniewski from the UW Faculty of History, show that, in response to increased rainfall and flooding in the sixth century AD, a new type of miracle emerged in the stories of saints circulating in Italy at the end of antiquity: the power of the saints over the element of water on land and in the air.

Prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej from UW was awarded the International Research Award of the Max Weber Foundation in cooperation with the Historisches Kolleg in Munich.

Recent research done by Prof. Marek T. Olszewski from the UW Institute of Archaeology was related with the analysis of figural mosaics from the Roman Empire. As a result, the scientist discovered unidentified representations of sundials, shown in a specific perspective.

Prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej received the doctor honoris causa degree of the University of Jena. Recently, Prof. Andrzej K. Wróblewski and Prof. Lech Garlicki were recognised by Polish universities.
