ACM ICPC World Finals in Rapid City

From 20th May to 25th May in Rapid City in South Dakota, the ACM ICPC 2017 world finals will be held. The Warsaw Eagles – a team from the University of Warsaw will participate in this contest.

 

The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) is the most prestigious programming contest for students. In this year, the ACM ICPC world finals will take place in Rapid City, South Dakota, USA. 133 teams from 6 regions: Africa and Middle East, Asia, Europe, North America, Latin Amerika and South Pacific.

 

Poland will be represented by 3 universities: the University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University and the University of Wrocław.

 

The team from the UW – Warsaw Eagles – has won the Central Europe Regional Contest in Zagreb and got the right to take part in the world finals in Rapid City. The team consists of students from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics: Wojciech Nadara, Marcin Smulewicz and Marek Sokołowski.

 

So far, 23 teams from the University of Warsaw have participated in the ACM ICPC world finals. Since 2012, the UW teams have been bringing medals from this contest. In 2003 and 2007 our students have won gold medals.

 

Prof. Jan Madey, Prof. Krzysztof Diks and Tomasz Kociumaka from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the UW are the cauches of Warsaw Eagles. In Rapid City, Prof. Jan Madey will receive the Lifetime Coach Award.
